Mulligan Community would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated to their ‘MC Family Support’ donations this Christmas. All three Bridgend College campus’, Datakom and Booker Wholesale Bridgend got involved in collections of food, Christmas treats and toiletries for the 15 families that their ‘MC Family Support’ team support. Booker Wholesale went out of their way to personally donate fresh chickens and potatoes for all the families so they could enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner.
Mulligan Community, Bridge FM and Zebra Asset Finance donated: toys, books, games and craft activities for all of the 38 children.
MD of Datakom Jay Ball said “As a business, it is vitally important for us to support our local community wherever possible. We are fully aware of the importance of Mulligan Community, and the excellent job they do in providing this service, so we thought it was an ideal opportunity for us to help”.
MC Family Support Manager, Lesley Evatt said “We are so please that each child had more than half a dozen presents each this Christmas and we were able to bless the families with a big box of Christmas food and goodies, thank you to everyone who got involved and donated.”
Mulligan Community started ‘MC Family Support’ at the beginning of October this year when they took on 14 families and 12 volunteers from a charity that was no longer able to continue.
The transition was uninterrupted and support continued as normal for the families. This would be the first year that the families would be overwhelmed with such generous donations.
“With regular referrals coming in to help more families, we are turning to Business Sponsorship in 2017 to give local businesses the opportunity to leave their mark in stamping out poverty and social exclusion in Bridgend and support ‘MC Family Support’” said MC Volunteer Director Amanda Kirk.
